Digital Dentistry

What Is Digital Dentistry?

Digital dentistry is a practice in which digital measuring is taken in a brief time in visual and functional dental disorders and compatible restorations are prepared. Furthermore, intraoral scanning and current techniques are used by means of computer-aided devices. In the digital dental clinic following operations are performed; Intraoral Scanning, CAD-CAM Scraper, 3D Printer and Smile Design.

What Is CAD/CAM?

CAD/CAM, i.e., Computer-Aided Design / Computer-Aided Manufacturing, is one of the most important componants of digital dentistry. It is our day's technology that allows us to take digital measurements from the patient, scan and prepare restorations accordingly with computer aid. In this way, prosthetic treatments are rendered faster, better and more comfortable.

What Is Digital Wax-Up And Mock-Up?

Model made digitally or in wax at the preparatory stage of smile design before the treatment is called Wax-up. Teeth are prepared and the Wax-up model is applied to the teeth which is called Mock-up. Wax-up and Mock-up phase is especially important during smile design. Wax-up and Mock up offer to patients the opportunity to see the result of treatment before starting it. In other words, with this application, the initial design of the restorations to be applied to the teeth is created. One of the key features of the Wax-up and Mock-up process is that changes can be made to the design according to the patient's expectations on the initial designs.

In Which Dental Problems Can CAD-CAM Be Used For?

  • Diastema,
  • Color and shape problems,
  • Fractured and short teeth,
  • Crowded teeth,
  • Missing teeth,
  • Eroded teeth and endocrown,
  • Aesthetic problems.

What Are The Advantages Of Digital Dentistry?

  • The duration of treatment is shortened,
  • Measurement and laboratory errors in the classical method are prevented by taking measurements with cameras with high resolution,
  • Aesthetic expectations can be met with the design specifically prepared for individuals,
  • Crowns and bridges with up to 3-5 parts can be placed in the patient's mouth on the same day.

Procedures In A Digital Dental Clinic

  • Smile design
  • Zirconium
  • Full ceramic
  • Crowns
  • Veneer
  • Inlay & Onlay
  • Endocrown
  • Implant-supported prosthesis
  • Temporary teeth

What Are The Treatments That Should Be Completed Before The Procedures In Digital Dentistry?

Before starting the procedures in the digital dental clinic, patients should have eliminated problems such as filling, root canal treatment and calculus removal. After these treatments are completed the success rate of the treatment in a digital dental clinic may increase. Patients can use prosthetic teeth longer by keeping up with oral and dental care.
